Fast-moving clouds are a challenge. The trick is to paint the essence of them by painting the overall shapes and rhythms of the clouds rather than trying to be very specifically rendering them piece by piece.
As I've gained experience with painting en plein air, I have been slowly moving toward painting the essence of a scene rather than copying the details of the scene itself. This is why im so drawn to the light and color in a scene. I believe that is where the essence lives, don't you?
